My favorite place to enjoy my morning coffee is sitting on my own back porch. I can relax and enjoy the view of my backyard garden while trying to pick out what is new or has changed. It is a great place to mull over future projects or just watch the wildlife. I think that is really the secret zen that makes gardening addictive.
You can garden at home without having to go anywhere and enjoy the peace, quiet, and beauty of nature.
Having your own garden gives you a sense of pride in your gardening successes and humility in your gardening failures.
Gardening is a last frontier that the government hasn't figured out how to tax yet. There is no entry fee and you can stay as long as you like.
I am always rewarded with something new like this Morning Glory bloom from a plant that reseeded itself.
Or the help of fellow gardeners who will share their knowledge
to help you succeed. They have discovered the secret also.
This young fellow is an American Beautyberry sprouted from seed. I traded some of my excess seeds for the beautyberry seeds with a fellow gardener up around Tampa,Florida. I am hoping to grow this guy and one other beside my bird feeder to attract the birds to its Berry's.
Besides the plants the different birds put on a show for free. They like the security of the nearby bushes as well as the free hand out from the feeder. While the birds here are not as colorful as in other places they provide entertainment.
The doves in the picture are the most prominent but others hang out throughout the day.
There are now four bluejays that stay close by now. They are chasing each other around most of the time. As well as a whacked out Mockingbird that sings late at night. It is amazing to watch him preform his acrobatics chasing and catching bugs in midair.
I am trying to incorporate in my garden a bird friendly habitat because they add so much to the Gestalt. Enough rambling time for a second cup of coffee.--------sanddune-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ReplyDeleteSaw you over at Blotanical. Welcome. So happy to as many fellow Florida gardeners as possible. We've been a little slow coming on but now have a big presence in the blog world.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you like your morning coffee on your back porch. All those pretty birds and plantings.
My back porch. Favorite place for my morning AND evening coffee and my breakfast, lunch and dinner... and my blogging. Ha. Everything you said, I couldn't have said better. My own garden is home ...I am a home-body so I've created a place I like to hang out. Cheap entertainment. LOL
