August is in my opinion the hottest month here where I live. It brings out the largest number of bugs and a new crop of weeds to contend with. It saps your motivation to work outside with the intense heat and humidity. All in all I

So for me this month has been more about trying to keep the garden watered and enjoying the plants that like this heat.
The Mandavilla bush is still blooming its pink flowers and has merged with the Cardinal climber vine on my bird feeder posts. The Cardinal climber has just last week started to display its red Quarter size flowers.
And my old faithful wild Mexican Sunflowers never fail. It seems the hotter it is the better they like it. They attract butterflies throughout the day with four or five on the plant at any one time.
So this month for me has been filled with other things beside my garden. I do look forward to cooler days and starting my new planned projects in the next few weeks and will keep you posted. ---sanddune---
